High-level overview of NetExpert Neon Modeler...

The NetExpert Neon 9.0 Modeler provides a means to build a graphical representation of the Customers, Products or Services to be managed and their underlying dependencies. This innovative component enables the definition and management of key applications, servers and other IT resources to improve the manageability of the products and services built on these resources.

Additionally, the Modeler allows a resource hierarchy to be created from reusable building blocks, improve clarity and communication around relevant aspects of a system or service that must be maintained to be functional and enables standardization and re-use, thus reducing overall production and operational costs.

Key features of the NetExpert Neon 9.0 Modeler include:

  • Template Creation, which provides a "pattern" that is used as a base for future models. The defined structure, Events, KPI's, Propagation Scenario's (ROFW%) and all assigned relationships are re-used.
  • Instance Creation, which is derived from Templates, tailored as needed and used for actual management.
  • Template and Instance Validation, which employs the TMF Shared Information Data (SID) Common Model Standards to ensure structures, interdependencies and propagation rules are met.
  • Loading, Configuring and Assignment of KPI's - KPI's can be manually created or loaded directly from a Database, Text File or an SNMP MIB.
  • Loading, Configuring and Assignment of Events & Actions - Events can be manually created or loaded directly from a Database, Text File and an SNMP MIB. Once loaded or built, Event Actions can also be assigned, including
  • Model Deployment, a single-click action to begin run-time management.
  • Template & Instance Import/Export, which includes all components required to support model templates and or instances on the receiving system including classes, relationships, propagation scenarios, KPI’s an Events.
