Alert Navigator – Updates to Alert Navigator focus on improving the operator experience. The improvements include making it easier for operators to find alerts by using the new Find feature in the alert display. Also added is the ability to automatically notify operators when a filter changes while they are currently using it. This is done through a pop-up dialog box appearing only to the operators currently using the affected filter. To make troubleshooting alerts easier, we added the ability to place a URL into the Alert Advice and Journal Panels.

Gateway Agents – Configuration is the primary focus for Gateway Agents in this release. We added the ability to pass pre-assigned attributes to connect and disconnect dialogs. In addition, when designing dialogs, you now have the ability to reuse dialog steps, eliminating the need to create the same step over again. This is done using the new GOTO feature. To make troubleshooting easier, take advantage of the new gateway agent archive file structure.

Gateway Central – Gateway Central includes improvements in both the user interface as well as in administration. In the user interface you now have the ability to easily execute context-aware UNIX commands using a right-click command right from the selected gateway. To make trouble shooting easier, you can now turn on troubleshooting for multiple gateways simultaneously using the new Batch Trace On feature. Lock/Unlock Gateway authorizations is now supported, so that administrators can enable this access right independent of other access rights. In addition we eliminated the need to use Agents with Gateway Central.

Installation and Patching – To make it easier to administer the NetExpert system, we improved installation and patch maintenance. When installing VSM patches, we implemented the ability to make sure that the newest software patch is not overwritten by an older patch that is bundled as part of an upgrade. This ensures that your system fixes remain current and are not undone by older software that forcibly installs. In addition, we improved our patching tool so that it can install patches across multiple systems simultaneously. Also you now have the ability to gracefully complete an uninstall of the software.

General Administration – We added the ability to improve the user experience when multiple users simultaneously log in to NCC. Using NCC Load Balancing your system administrator can control the login load for your NCC server boxes. In addition, if you want to easily keep your Alert Navigator clients updated, try our Web Start solution. Using Web Start, you can install the updates in one central location and have your users access the updated software with an easy click of the mouse button.
